Induction Chemotherapy with Cisplatin, Fluorouracil, and Cetuximab in Locally Advanced Head and Neck Cancer

چکیده
We conducted a non-randomized retrospective study of the treatment locally advanced head and neck squamous-cell carcinoma (LA-SCCHN), comparing induction chemotherapy (ICT) with cetuximab plus cisplatin fluorouracil (FPE) docetaxel (TPF), followed by radiotherapy cetuximab. non-randomly assigned 24 patients (all whom had N stage N2 or N3 no distant metastases were candidates for organ preservation) to receive either FPE- TPF-ICT, evaluated efficacy safety. The overall response rate, one-year progression-free survival, survival comparable between FPE TPF arms. Hematological toxicities during ICT more pronounced in arm than arm. No grade 4 5 adverse events observed Patients LA-SCCHN who received FPE-ICT fewer hematological compared TPF-ICT. may be viable alternative standard TPF-ICT LA-SCCHN.

Cisplatin-Based Chemotherapy versus Cetuximab in Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy for Locally Advanced Head and Neck Cancer Treatment
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE This study aimed to analyze survival, clinical responses, compliance, and adverse effects in locally advanced head and neck cancer (LAHNC) patients treated with split-dose cisplatin-based concurrent chemoradiation therapy (SD-CCRT) or cetuximab with concurrent radiation therapy (BioRT). MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively evaluated 170 LAHNC patients diagnosed betw...
متن کاملCombination of Taxanes, Cisplatin and Fluorouracil as Induction Chemotherapy for Locally Advanced Head and Neck Cancer: A Meta-Analysis
BACKGROUND Some investigations have suggested that induction chemotherapy with a combination of taxanes, cisplatin and fluorouracil (TPF) is effective in locally advanced head and neck cancer. However, other trials have indicated that TPF does not improve outcomes. The objective of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of TPF with a cisplatin and fluorouracil (PF) regimen through a ...
متن کاملPhase III study comparing cisplatin plus fluorouracil to paclitaxel, cisplatin, and fluorouracil induction chemotherapy followed by chemoradiotherapy in locally advanced head and neck cancer.
PURPOSE To compare the antitumor activity and toxicity of the two induction chemotherapy treatments of paclitaxel, cisplatin, and fluorouracil (FU; PCF) versus standard cisplatin and FU (CF), both followed by chemoradiotherapy (CRT), in locally advanced head and neck cancer (HNC). PATIENTS AND METHODS Eligibility criteria included biopsy-proven, previously untreated, stage III or IV locally a...
متن کاملCisplatin, Cetuximab, and Radiation in Locally Advanced Head and Neck Squamous Cell Cancer: A Retrospective Review
Efficacy of cisplatin versus cetuximab with radiation in locally advanced head and neck cancer (LAHNC) was evaluated. A total of 96 patients with newly diagnosed LAHNC treated at our institution between 2006 and 2011 with concurrent radiation and cisplatin (group A, n = 45), cetuximab (group B, n = 24), or started with cisplatin but switched to cetuximab because of toxicity (group C, n = 27) we...
متن کاملA Review on the Efficacy of Chemotherapy in Locally Advanced Head and Neck Cancers
Background and Aims: Chemotherapy is utilized as a part of combined-modality programs to achieve organ preservation and improve survival in patients with locally advanced head and neck cancer. Combinedmodality protocols can be used in three forms: a) neoadjuvant induction chemotherapy before definitive surgery or radiotherapy; b) concomitant chemoradiotherapy; and c) sequential therapy consisti...
